Not sure if this is real, but it looks pretty good...you guys prolly already know about it but I thought I'd bring it here. http://www.consolespot.net/1270-PSP-3000-running-custom-firmware--HEN-.html
Nice find. Looks like they are on their way. The little I did read said it will not be released until they find a 2nd exploit in a kernal due to the possibility of Sony blocking it.
I would say the psp 3000 because they have already been able to get kernal access through the gripshift exploit...basically they have been able to get custom firmware on it! Justy a matter of time before it is released to the public!
a used 2000 is a better chance. firmware is more mature, so less bugs in it. if you're going to do the 3000 exploit, better get gripshift now, before prices skyrocket. we all remember how lumines got.
I'd reccomend the 3000 still though becasue you would get the benifiet of the latest psp and also it's moddable now...but like cee43ja1 said get gripshift NOW too! That's my opinion but it's up to you.
i just bought gripshift from a local gamestop for $7.99...I find myself a lucky person!! btw, psp3000 all the way...but buy gripshift nowww!!!
does the psp 3000 and some models of the psp 2000 have the same TA-088v3 motherboard. so if they hack the 3000, theres a chance that some of the psp 2000 with TA-088v3 mobo can be hacked aswell?
There's always a chance, but now that they hacked the 3000 will they even bother backtracking to the ta88v3 on the 2000?
From what i can tell, this way of hacking is very similar to the twilight hack and because it is similar to it, i definitely say that it can also hack the psp2000 with the ta-088 motherboard. Nintendo has also switched their motherboard and chipset a lot to stop/prevent modding of their unit but it did not stand a chance against the twilight hack. But the hack was really easy stopped by a patch. So if any one want a modded psp 3000, they need to get a 3000 now before Sony decides to write a patch that says something like "read and run command on a memory stick if and only if the command is less then ###mb" lol, and for all of you who are paying 50+ for gripshift, the hack is only a short term solution
Question: what exactly does GripShift allow you to do? I'm new to the scene and I'm curious on how hacking works.
Basically, it allows you to run your own homebrew, but a team of developers have figured out how to get kernal access to the psp and this allows you to write custom firmware to flash. Basically from there the posiiblities are endless. Oh GripShift is a game, but when asking to load a profile it can run users code instead. Quite ingeneous really.
