I just got this Older PsP and it has 3.52 firmware, this is all i know about the console. I want to put a few games i currently own on the thing, Exe.(FF7,FF9, and Spryo).
I read alot of the stickies but im a psp virgin, and am kinda clueless, i just want to play some old school games. I know the mods will be pulling their hair out and i apologize for any frustration i may cause.
Any links or mini guides would be great for getting this thing going the way id love it to be.

Er wtf do i do to downgrade my firmware to 1.5? I dont have a extra battery to use, and i defiantly dont have an other PsP with homebrew on it. If that was the case i wouldnt be trying to downgrade this one duh.
Half the downgrade links are expired so i dont know how the hell to do this. No guide helps b/c every thing is out of date and i dont have all the extra bullshit. Is there a way to downgrade to 1.50 from 3.52 any more ????

You don't NEED an extra battery, but it's always a good idea to have one. Yes, you'll need a CFW PSP if you want to make the Pandora Battery yourself, though I believe there's a way to make the MMS on a PC (it's a program called RainMMS, but I don't have experience with it). If you don't have access to a CFW PSP, then order a pre-made Pandora Battery from Datel on CodeJunkies (it's called the "Tool" battery there).

what if i just want to play PSx games on it? Do i have to go through the long annoying process of modding ... or is it completely soft?

unless you get the games from PSN, then you NEED custom firmware. period.

Yes indeed. Unless you get all of your games from the PlayStation Store, then you will need custom firmware to run them (since they are homebrew).

Is it the PsP Battery Service Tool or the PsP Max Power Tool or is it the Max Power Digital?

Since you said it's an older PSP, I assume it's a PSP-1000, so use the PSP MAX Power TOOL, unless you want to convert your battery to service mode by yourself (outside of the PSP), in which case get the PSP Battery Service Tool (don't have much experience with this though). If I somehow misunderstood you and it's a PSP-2000, then get the PSP MAX Power Digital (universal mode).
