hey =D Would a 500Watt OCZ Technology (model no. OCZ500SXS) be enough to power: Mobo: Asrock 4coredual Sata 2 rev 2 CPU: Intel Core 2 duo E7400 gfx: Ati HD3850 512MB (AGP 8x) 2 IDE HDD's and 1 DVD SATA 2 burner and 1GB ddr2 667 ram ? and... a flashdrive! thanks!
i would go with a 650W just to be safe, that way you have extra wattage if you upgrade in the future, but a 500W for that setup should work fine.
500W is ample for that system. There are far better PSUs out there than OCZ StealthXStreams, but you could do worse.
A 500 watt should easily handle your setup. Your main concern is the video card and it requires a minimun 450 watt PSU. You only need a larger 550 watt PSU if you will be crossfiring x2 video cards or overclocking your cpu. I have my phenom 9750 quad (95 watt) with 4x hard drives running quite happily on a 400 watt PSU.
You don't even need that. The HD3850 AGP would actually run happily off a 250W PSU for that setup. I wouldn't recommend it long-term, but it would certainly work fine. I used a similar setup to that one once, and it drew about 140W at full load off the PSU. You can't crossfire AGP cards
