When i bought my computer i didn't look to hard into getting a good power supply because i didnt know what to look for or if there was a need. Now my old power supply, which lasted a long time for a cheap brand, is dead and i need a new one. I was wondering what to look for. As in specs and brands and good deals for the money. I've heard that antec, enermax, and thermaltake are ok but i need something that will narrow down the field. Thanks
Best to get as high powered unit as you can, over 500Watt. Regardless of how much you actually need, the more power the easier it is for it to handle what you throw at it now and then later. Make sure it is ATX 2.2 as it will support the latest connections you may need. 580W HiperPower Type-R Modular is a top PSU, it handles all I've got connected to it (although my water pump is powered separately by a separate supply). I like modular, as they are easier to install without all the cables hanging out, it looks neater and you can leave off connectors you don't require, thus leaving more room for better airflow. Show should be looking at a price of at least £50 UK up to £100 any more is un-necessary. Which ever you decide on, do a search for reviews on it; to see if it has been tested for reliability and performance, it should be able to pump out the power with as little fluctuation as possible.
