    Background info: My buddies box had suffered some trauma. It was kicked and the mod chip, witch is an executor 3 with a solder less adapter, had yet again come undone. Normally I would have replaced the springed wires to there proper place and gotten him on his way, has happened 2 times now. Not that he’s hard on his box it’s just soderless adapters are just a pain in the butt. This time how ever it didn’t work, tried reflashing the bois, no luck. I would rather just softmod his box so I never have to see the inside of it again. The problem is he wishes to have all of his stuff off of his hard drive.

    My question to all the Xbox moding gurus is this…

    Is there a good way to see and remove his files, file names intact, and dump them into a pc running Linux or Xp. I have used WinHex to try to hex dump an archive but I can’t find a program to open the resulting files with .001 or .img extensions. He’s running an Evox dashboard I believe.

    On a seconded question, what os are the dashboards, Unix based right?

    I’m at a stand still and maybe I’m going about this all wrong. Any help would be much appreciated. :-}

    If it's a modchipped box i'm guessing the hard drive is unlocked. You can take that drive and plug it into a computer running windows and use a program called xplorer360 to read and modify the contents of the drive.

    You can also softmod the hard drive this way. Copy your stock c: and replace it with a set of modded files.

    this should solve both your problems.

    Infact you can use my c: if you want i've uploaded it.
    cheater drive http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GHHFXQJI

    Just back up your c: and replace it with this one. It should work flawlessly if you have the stock bios.

    For this to work you need to lock your drive with the eeprom from the xbox. You might have to build a eeprom reader (search afterdawn for that).

    If you have any problems let me know.

    Wow! Man that did the trick. That’s a clever little program. I had a feeling I was over thinking it. And to think I was using ftp to transfer files on my box. Thank ya C4RN1 that was exactly what I was looking for. Peace out and may all your mods forever go smoothly. :-}
