I don't get it, if the independence exploit still requires you to insert a swap magic disk, what's its use? Also I have swap magic, and other than a modchip is there any way to play copied games without opening the ps2 up?

The independence exploit does not require that you use a swap magic disk. You can put swap magic on the memory card and use a ps1 disk to boot up the exploit. You will not need your swap magic disk to boot the exploit. You will only need it once to put the programs on your memory card.
