I would assume that you would use a the standard ISO Filesystem, the first item on the list of kinds of DVDs to make within Nero. ISO can be read by all machines, old and new.

a standard cd would do it. i've taken photo's in from my digital camera, which uses an 'XD' mutimedia card, where in effect the photos (files) on the card have been copy/pasted onto the card in windows/explorer

    Step by Step.

    1. Open Nero
    2. At the New Compilaton Dialog select the first option [CD-ROM (ISO)]
    3. You will be at the Multisession tab. If you plan on adding more material to the CD at a later time sellect "Start Multisession" if not then select "No Multisession".
    4. To keep all of the settings at there default click the "New" button.
    5. Now you will have a screen with four columns (1st the folder structure to be burned on the disc, 2nd the files in the selected folder or the root in the 1st column, 3rd the folder stucture of the local dirves on you computer, 4th the files in the selected folder in column 3.)
    6. Locate you photos folder in the 3rd column and click on it.
    7. Now drag the photos from the 4th column to the 2nd column.
    8. Vola now all you have to do is give the disc a title, click on the CD icon that says "New" (or if you already had a name before then it will be there) and hit the 'F2' button to rename the disc.
    9. Hit the 'Burn' button at the top (the one with the Disc and the Match) and hit the "Burn" button.
    10. If you hadn't previously inserted a disc it will ask you to and then just sit back and it will give you a nice CD with your pictures on. :)
