putting a bigger HDD on a softmodded xbox, is this right?

So from what i understand, making any other HDD compatible with the rest of your xbox, you have to;

1)partition the major drives to your PC.
2)Partition your eeprom to your PC.
3)unlock a HDD.
4)Put the shit in the HDD from the PC.
5)change the eeprom identities.
6)your done?

I haven't studied much on the topic, but i figured id just be lazy and ask around here.

BTW, The HDD im trying to "upgrade" it to is from another xbox. does that make it a whole new story, or does it just mean i will need to unlock it first.
