Is it possible to put normal downloaded mp3's on an Ipod or do they have to be a certain type?

    Thanks

That is a bit of a misnomer. You actually can not transfer mp3s on to your ipod with itunes even though you can transfer the music. It converts mp3s to an apple format at 128 BR. This is a huge rub for audiophyles. Since ipods can play high quality mp3s and they sound real nice if you get some good ear pods. itines has something against high quality tunes unless the music is in apple format.

irongiant, if you check out the music folder which is a hidden folder called control, you will discover there are NO mp3s in the music folder. If you have a utility the allows you to check the bit rate you will discover any high bit rate mp3 have been degraded to 128.

To transfer mp3s you will need a third party software like media monkey.
