As far as I know there is no third party program to load videos onto your iPod.

I havn't heard of that problem to frequently, you could probably find an answer at those other forums if it is as common as you say.

Just got an iPod video for my birthday and have had success in transfering videos (mp4) to it using Anapod. It seems to be the most popular program for transfering videos amd mp3 (outside itunes). A couple of things I have learned, however, is: 1. If you transfer mp3 (and poss mp4s) with Anapod and later sync with iTunes, iTunes will erase your songs from the ipod. To me, not a big deal if you dont use iTunes. 2. I haven't figured out Anapod well enough to determine where exactly one transfers the video. Anapod looks like Windows explorer and it shows a "video" folder but after copying, all my videos end up in the iPod "music videos" folder and not the "video" folder. I don't know how to selectively choose the "video" only destination. This may be the reason why 3. an entry for the video appears on the ipod/music/song list, which causes my ipod to lock up when the video entry comes up in the song play list.

In some other forums, I have seen some recommendations for other Win programs to take the place of itunes but I haven't seen any others that can handle videos. (Would love to consider alternatives) In the meantime, I am hoping the Anapod people address this issue with an update.

It's just a bit more complicated because there isn't a 'Video' folder, like there is for music, so you can't just dump files into that particular folder quite as easily as you can for audio. It also might have a more complicated naming system [if you look through your iPod's hardrive all the files are organized by some sort of code]

I'm not sure to which you are referring--the iPod or the Anapod Explorer. The iPod has Music and Videos menu. Below the video menu, appear Movies, Music Videos and Video Podcasts.

In Anapod, there is both an "Audio Tracks" folder and a "Videos" folder. I'm just not sure why inserting a mp4 into the videos folder makes it appear in the song playlists as well as in the video folder. What frustrates me is trying to figure out how one "marks" an mp4 as a "movie", "music video" or "video podcast" in Anapod so it appears in the correct iPod folder.

On the HD of your iPod there is a folder named 'Music' that contains all of your music files. There isn't a folder called 'Video' which makes loading these files without iTunes more difficult the music.
