Hi all, I got a second The Box pvr and I need to put software on it. My other pvr box has undre system menu E_Ver 4.506, 15Oct 2007. What I would like to know is how to put this same software onto my new box. Is it possible to do a software transfer with the 2 boxes and if so how in easy english do I do this or do I have to use a computer. Thanks a mil advance.

yeah you can do a transfer data easily, do you have a null modem cable?, if so join the two boxes together put the new one on standby, turn it away from the remote control, press menu on the original box, user set up, and at the bottom you will see S/W transfer, click this and you should be sorted.

Hi there thanks for your reply. I have tried that and no joy. Anything else. I have just looked at the new box and under sysem info it has The Box PVR twin tuner Ver 3.104, 18 th March 2008. Did a factory reset and found a load of channels. Not sure if this is the correct firmware as I am in Dublin. After the reset I cant get into the cass system to turn key emu on. When I go into menu and then down to HDD Mode Change should it say PVR.

Use the October firmware. You use a different method to get into the PVR. You will find guides by jbvideo in Eamos, along with the firmware and loader.

    Hi
This will sort you out best to load the latest F/W v4.506 Oct it is in the 'eko.4shared' link below, but if you want to keep this F/W jump further down my post. You can find what your present version is by looking in your menu system. Then make sure you are plugged into the correct socket at the back (one of the four together) marked up. NOT the antenna socket. The manual is wrong.
Before doing a scan Goto Menu / Installation and make sure the (Cable Network Option) top item is set to your local provider if not correct it by using the right / Left arrow keys on your remote, then move down to Autoscan and wait till it has finished scanning.

    Jump to here
If channels are not clearing after a scan goto Menu / System Setup / Press OK on your remote when the Parental Control line in yellow is highlighted then press i then 2007, this should take you the the Cas System Menu. (You may need try this a few times to get your key press timing correct on the remote control but this will get you into the Cas Syatem Menu) If you can't get onto the Cas System Menu screen then you are doing something wrong so keep trying it.
When you are on the Cas Menu Screen and with Nagravision 1,11 highlighted in Yellow Press OK, On the Provider ID Line select the same provider as earlier by using the left/right arrow buttons on remote then press the LAST (load default) button on your remote, then the OK button to (Store) wait for it to save then press exit, then make sure Autoupdate option is On (Bottom Item in Cas System Menu.) This is the equiv of the EMU, Exit out, Goto a scrambled channel and wait for an update.

Goto the TheBox PVR Folder for F/W and Documentation Folder for How too's

Hi thanks for your replies. Now I am begining to loose it. So if possible I will restart. When I go into system info it has The Box PVR twin tuner Ver 3.104, 18th March 2008. I live in Dublin and if this firmware is ok thats the first step done.Next I have done a factory reset and it has found all channels. Then I go into menu down to system info. Here parental control is highlighted and I press i and the 2007. Nothing changes and have tried now about 40 times. Some of the channels will appear on screen but only the likes of euro news. I have not formatted the hdd yet so not sure if this is adding to my problem. I have also tried flashing the box using the null modem cable with a usb serial converter. I down loaded the pvr loader v3.36s_Se. Then I used the bin file E_v4500_06 July. It just keeps saying flash update fail. Have I been doing anything wrong so far. Thanks guys for having the patience thus far.

    Hi
Read it again, you have missed it.
If you have done what you said you are doing it wrong. What have I highlighted in RED on purpose, you DON'T press i 2007 when parental control menu is highlighted you press OK then i 2007 when parental control menu is highlighted.

Update, To update your software you will be struggling with a USB/Com port converter, they are and can be cr*p and a right pain to set up. Best use, borrow or take your PVR to a mates PC that has a 9 Pin com port on their PC.

Come on barking , your nearly there, when you have pressed the OK button (only) that I keep mentioning this does take you to the Parental control menu with pin selections, you then need to press
i & 2007 on your remote control to get to Cas System. This has to be worth a dozen beers or more its getting very hard work : lol.

Hi jbvid, your right I am nearly there. But I hate to tell you I still cany get into the cass system. Maybe if I have a dozen beers it might work. Ah no seriously though I will just keep trying. Could it be the firmware. As I said I am using Ver 3.104 18th March 2008. I can get into the cass system on my 1st pvr but not this one for some strange reason. Try not to give up on me. Thanks a mil

Hi jbvid again, sorry for annoying you but when I did a scan at the end it says data info channel. Don't remember that on the first one so I may be doing something wrong at that point

    Hi
I would again advise you to download the 4.506_Oct version of the firmware for the PVR. Some sellers only sell their PVR's with the FTA firmware installed for obvious reasons so better change yours if your still struggling, the link is in an earlier post.
