    lo all.
right ive installed my qoob and its up and running.
    ive installed the 13a bios.
it plays original and import games fine but i cant get any backups to work.
i just get 'Unable to read disk!'
i have also tryed with 13b3 as well.
the disk spins up and it says 'loading dvd' then disk stops
spinning and says 'unable to read disk'
the chip must be working cos it plays originals and imports.
    aggh!
ive tryed it wiht one DVDRs and mini budget ones too
    any ideas?

I had the same problem myself with the dvd-r media I was using. I got some of them to work if I burned them at a slower speed. I read up on different media to use, and saw that TDK was a recommended one. I got some of those, and since then, I haven't had any DREs.

It might be worth a try, but I have never tried with a RW, I have only used DVD-R discs. Just got a 50 pack of TDK DVD-R for 20 bucks.

You may have to adjust the pot settings on the unside of the laser

If you want to play backups google around for a different bios than the one qoobchip.com gives you. That is your problem. qoobchip.com's bios doesnt let you play backups because they cannot tell if you are playing an illegal game or not.

Yes, I've also been having this problem that the qoob will play origional and imports, but not back ups. I installed it in a different cube and it booted back ups ( not my cube though so I couldn't keep it there ) Curious as to how to solve this. Thanks a lot :D
