The Qoob Pro is the best chip. This argument has been going on for time as people with the viper will not admit it.

    2.
Viper GC Extreme is not out yet so we cant realy compare it with the Qoob Pro. But it should be better as whats the point of releasing a new modchip which is exactly the same as the old one. Anyways the manufacturers stare that it will have new unseen features.

    3.
Copied Games / Back-ups once the chip has been flashed with the latest bios.

    4.
The rest has been answered in other threads which i have posted and others. called: "Calling All Qoober's" "Qoob Installation Video" and other posts which are around. LOOK AROUND MATE

If you want to stream games, you need to use a BBA since qoob Pro isn't designed for streaming games via USB.

The qoob Pro is flashed via USB while the GC is off. All software can be downloaded from modthatcube. Back-ups are direct boot.

Game back-ups are produced by streaming the iso from the GC using the BBA and any ripping program such as GCOM 2.2.

Depends on the ripper really. The trend seems to be the use of Internet Explorer to download the iso while the GC is streaming it. GCOM uses that method.

Ritek G04 seems to be a popular media on this board, but I just buy Verbatim DVD-Rs in packs of 100 since I back-up Xbox games and movies as well. My burner is a LITEON Dual Layer DVD burner. Not top of the line or anything, since it was $90 when I got it. As for burning software, use Nero since it very easy to use and has a low failure rate.

You run GCOM off the qoob Pro. PSO isn't used at all.

Is there any requirements in a dvd burner I should be looking for.

What should I set my laser too for Ritek G04's or is there any othe mini dvds that work well and what should I set my laser too for those?

If you do a case mod like the iced cube(so far the best one out there), you can use full size dvd-r discs. This saves a bit of money on media. The qoob pro is the way to go. The gamecube is a breeze to mod compaired to the ps2 and xbox. When using gcom it sets up and waits for you to access it from internet explorer via ip address, then downloads the game to the computer(very basic description) Go to mod that cube for a world of info.

I actually had an easier time modding my Xbox than I did with my GC. The Iced Cube case gave me hell since for some reason I thought the gamebit would be strong enough to screw in the original screws. Should've used different screws or sliced a line on the head of the screws.

Do I need to set my laser for the Ritek G04's

Do I need to set the laser for memorex's?

    How do the two compare?

I've never even heard of Mad Dog, so couldn't help you there.

As for the media, I'd stay away from Memorex, since I haven't had much luck with them. Tried using it for a movie, Xbox back-up, and GC back-up (one of each) and it did rather poorly. The game back-ups didn't even work right and the movie's framerate dropped to 2 a minute about a quarter of the way through the movie. Used Verbatim on the same iso files and each one worked perfectly. I haven't tried using Ritek G04 media but I've only heard good things about them.

The laser's pot adjustment really just depends on whether or not your laser can read the media or not. If it can, you don't have to touch the pot at all. If it doesn't fare too well, adjustments should be made. Keep in mind that the "sweet spot" differs from GC to GC, so no one can give you a difinitive answer. Generally though, it seems to be between 190-210 ohms I believe. I myself, had to set it to 150 ohms for it to work properly.

The pen trick is only used if you don't want to shell out the cash for a gamebit. I bought a gamebit at the same time I ordered the qoob Pro and Iced Cube case just to avoid the hassle of the pen trick.

Is xbox-modchips.com ok? Where did you buy you screw bit and chip?

    Thank You,

    I use Ridata (Ritek) G04 Mini DVD-rs (meritline.com) 20 for $17, 50 for $32.

No laser adjustment needed on 15+ games...

    No GC case mods either.

Burn with Plextor 716a using Nero (with Finalize DVD). Works perfect.
    Every time.........................

Pen trick: works if you use your brain. Dripping melting, no. Warm, pliable, close to melting, yes. Press fit, keep it steady, let it cool, pull it out, run cold water on it. Put it back in hole. Keep handy *steady*, vertical, Turn slowly. Feel it give? stop. Don't stop? You have plastic crap in the screw threads which makes the process even slower (speaking from experience). If that happens to you, get your pen to almost melting, mash down in the hole, pull it back up in 1 seconds... the hot plastic of the pen should clean away the plastic crap ojn the screw head from the previously failed attempt. Repeat until screw head is clean. OPnce clean... go back to pliable, get a good form on head, cold water, attempt to remove screw.

    Savy?
