I ordered a Qoob SX instead of Pro on accident thinking that this had USB as well, but I see now that it doesn't. Is there any way to flassh the firmware now? I got this so tat I can play backups on my gamecube. If I can't flash the firmware, how else can I get it to run backups? Thanks for all the help.

Or you could stream it using a BBA, but that's a bit harder.

Thanks for the responses, sorry for not looking more before. But is this right that I can use full size disks too? I have some fairly good quality ones I use to backup ps2 games [Verbatim] and mini DVD-Rs are a pain to find, that would be great if I could use them on here.

Yeah, no modded GC for me though. A friend and I attempted the mod tonight and the heatsink would NOT come off. So I goaded it into coming off it came off quickly and some of the circuits came off and it cut me about 3 times on the same finger. It is powering up but there is no display. We got one circuit soldered back on but not the other extremely tiny ones. I'm am assuming this is problem? Is there any way to fix it? Right now my plan is to take out the chip and maybe try again. I want a modded Gamecube but right now I'm really trying to cut my losses in terms of money. Thanks again.

thats a bitch... exactly why i dont mod it mself, shure u get the satisfaction of doing it but ur in trouble if u stuff it up. at least if the company does it u can have a yell at them and get ur money or a modded cube out of it

Yeah, it makes me wish I didn't do it myself. Now I just have to decide if I should cut my losses, or toss another $100+ into getting it done.

Congrats, your GC is now a paper weight. Since the IC chips came off the board, it's time to give up on it considering the chances of fixing it are nearly nonexistent.

If you still want a modded GC, I suggest getting a pre-modded one.

Yeah, I'm considering it, but I just feel completely stupid for now reading. I bookmarked a good installation guide but didn't use it [instead used Qoob's which wasn't bad] however when I went back to look at it this morning after the damage had been done, I realized that it recommended to heat it up first with a blow drier in order for it to come off easier, so I'm tempted to try it again or else this chip will go to waste in addition to the cube that just did.

read. i read. and then i do. i never fcuk up. because i read. you should read too. read this - [bold]i salute you in that you can now have two gamecubes for completely different purposes! one for holding down papers in the wind and the other to set in the closet and not touch. they hold their value if not ripped apart.[bold]read.
