While trying to make a back up of my newly purchased Quake 4, I recently ran into some problems. It always gets a read error around sector 800 or so, and won't rip more than .6% of the disc. I've tried a variety of different programs and still gotten nothing. Little help?
Dont all games give you read errors when you are copying them? That is how people make mini-disc images.
i've never had one do that before... at least, that i noticed. the only thing that i've ever had remotely like this is when i tried to make a backup of Resident Evil: Apocalypse.
have fun quake 4 has anti copy protocals built into it id software decided to talk to nero and other burning software manufactures so they could better equipt the game with security have fun
johnodd, Well obvioulsy the security isnt good enough because the games has been on torrent sites for a week now...
Alaphic, what program did you use to try to make your back-up? I used alcohol 120 to back mine up. DVDBack23 is right though, almost all games I've backed up give me read errors. I use SafeDisc4 Hider in order to play my backed up copies (that have SafeDisc4) and it works great. Or you could just find a NO-CD crack. (Some other games that have SafeDisc4 are Call of Duty 4 and FEAR)
I tried alcohol, and it just kept hanging. As for the no-cd crack, i would've just used one, but i always make a copy of the games that i buy and then put them back in their packages and don't touch them. I'm something of a collector as well as a player.
