Recently i ripped a DVD-9 to DVD-5 successfully using the Seamonkey420 manual. But the quality was not as good as the source. I can see the pixels if there is a fast motion in the video. How can I eliminate this problem? How can I retain the Main Menu Screen in the ripped DVD with just clicking the Play button start the movie? Please help and thanks in advance.
Hey kamaraju, I don't have the answer to your question cause i can't get that far using the guide! I followed all the steps, and have everything ripped and down to the 4.36 gigs...but i can't get nero to burn it? I have a sony DRU 500A with the latest firmware. I select video dvd....it burns all the way to the end but it will not "write out" the dvd. I was using a Sony DVD+RW. Any suggestions? Should i make an image?? Any help would be appreciated.....i would love to just see pixels!
I'm afraid I don't have a Sony DRU500A (I use Pioneer A104), however, certainly try making an Image (I do all the time, to make sure it plays on my PS2) Try Imgtool (download free from www.doom9.org) HomerJ
Hi Jshan87, I use HP 200e DVD-writer along with the Nero CD Burning. They are working fine. I don't know much about your Sony DVD writer. Why don't u just try any other DVD burning software that are available from the Net and see? I will let u know once i have some information about your problem.
I'm on Homer's side. I make an image file and use dvd decrypter to burn. I have yet to make a coaster this way.
Well guys, i downloaded IMGTOOLS like homer said...and followed the directions on doom9.org to a "t" and everything was flowin' until about 95% of the way through....the program said there was a "C++ runtime error" and needed to be shut down. I tried this with my Lord of The Rings files and my Blade 2 files. Both times the program quit at the same time....but both times it did leave an image file exactly 4,194,302 KB big. The files were 4.37 and 4.36 GB respectivly before imgtools??? Got a clue? Am I just a noob annoying everybody with my pitifully slow understanding dvd-9 to dvd-5? ;-)
I'm not sure why that happened. I don't know much about the inside workings of software. This might be causing the same problem with your Nero too.
Doh !!!! I think I know whats wrong here. What file format are you using ? i.e. FAT 16 - FAT32 - NTFS I suspect it's FAT 32. This only allows files upto 4 GB (and a bit) What operating system are you running ?? If 98SE then we have a problem, if XP or 2000 then only a small problem. HomerJ
Homer! You are a natural....i do have a FAT32 and i'm using XP Professional. I'm guessing i'll need to make it FAT16....you guessed it...couldn't even start to do it. U say it is easy....lets see how easy. ;-)
malum is right, you need to change your format to NTFS. This allows files size to be unlimited ( well 2 Terabytes I think) If I recall I do believe you can "upgrade" your hard disc format to NTFS without major disruption. Anyone care to comment on this, it's been ages since I did it (once done never need to do it again) HomerJ
I can't check (as all my drives are NTFS) and I haven't done it for ages, but if you right click the drive in my computer and then select properties there should be an option in there somewhere to convert. Failing that Partition Magic can do it. You can't convert back the other way without reformatting the drive but there is no reason that you should have to. You also cannot access an NTFS partition under DOS without third party software
Just to be on the safe side, it's best to use a utility like partion Magic, you can't be to safe when it comes to doing major surgery on your hard disc. And before you even do that, you have backed all your lovely personal data haven't you ? (He says, thinking, mmmm.... I must do that soon myself) HomerJ
Or you can use the following parameters in a dos box : convert c: /FS:NTFS ( with /V to verbose, if you want! ) This requires a reboot. If you do another partition, make sure all the programs are closed ( and the explorer must be closed to ) Then it will perform an on the fly conversion! This will work with NT/2000/XP not with Windows 9x/ME
