Quality of Video is getting worse and worse...

    I am a fansubber for Youtube and here's the problem.

    I download a good quality using keepvid.com as mp4 file

    i convert it using a convert to AVI.

    now when it used to convert the file looked clean, but now the AVI file looks a lot messier. the quality isn't as good either. I was wondering if there is any measure i need to take to make sure that conversion doesn't distort the quality

    It's hard to say. Can you provide a short sample,
    or at least, a screen grab.
