I'm making a dvd out of an old VHS-c and i want to max out the quality of audio and video. the Camera i am using only has an ouput plug that is a composite audio video cable. but when i i plug it into my computer sound on plays from the comp's left speaker. how can i get it to be stereo. also the quality of video is very poor and grainy. help please!
if the only audio output on the camera is a mono RCA jack then any capturing you do will never be in true stereo. however, you can get dual mono channels simply by going down to radioshack and getting a RCA splitter. this will allow the mono output to be recorded on both the right and left channels at the same time. my guess is that if the camera only outputs mono then it is only recording mono, but you could also try to put your VHS tapes in a VCR that has stereo outputs and see what you get... if the video is poor then the problem could be about a thousand different things. start with your hardware, make sure your computer has enough beef for this kind of work. also, make sure you check the other threads on this forum, lots of people have had help with video issues (myself included).
