To: Divinus or any other person who might have solved the issue reported on 13 January 2005. I have experienced the same problem with a VIA APOLLO MVP4 M/Board - it gives a 2-beep error code on power up, reports BIOS checksum error, reports a 1.44Mb floppy drive and requests insertion of system disk. HDD is preloaded with XP SP2. Floppy drive remains inactive when either XP Start-up or XP WinRescue disks are inserted. Has anyone resolved this type of boot-up problem?
Sounds like the floppy is not installed in the BIOS and it is setup as your boot device. Check in the BIOS that the floppy is installed/enabled and also that your hard drive is selected as a boot device. Also check that the floppy is actually connected aswell, twist in the cable should be towards the drive and not the motherboard, and check the ribbon is connected properly (polarised) and the power lead is plugged in................
