I have an old copy of dvd x copy express and I noticed that it uses pattin coufin driver revision 4 for the software.I downloaded vso inspector from the vso website and it updated the pattin coffin engine to version 28 for the dvd x copy software.I know that you can also select dvd decrypter to use the pattin couffin engine inside the settings of this program.Does updating the patting couffin driver effective in backing up newer movies?

Patin-Couffin is used as an interface between your program and your drive. It is used in many burning programs, and I believe it works well. I have VSO CopytoDVD and it is chosen as my interface in Decrypter I have not had any problems with my backups or playbacks. It however has nothing to do with encryption on movies it has more to do with how the software communicates with the drive, it would make no difference on newer movies.
