I just got an xbox 360 and i'm really interested in flashing the xtreme firmware on it, but just now now. If i update the dashboard, will i still be able to flash it? does anyone hav an idea?
Yup. You are all good right now. Will that change down the road? Who knows? I'm leaning towards you still will be, but time will tell.

Not true. There will be a fall dashboard update. Many think MS will block firware hacks, but we'll have to see. That won't be for a couple of month and if there was a block I think there would be a work around with the hardware being designed and is was and MS knows that.
just a question - if MS do release this patch.. will it auto update? or do we have a choice whether we want to update or not so we can check forums etc before hand to see if its applied an anti firmware hack patch? (i.e giving us a chance to restore the original firmware)
So, once you have updated so you can play backups. Do you think you could "downgrade" it back to how it came? MS got very clever with live on the old Xbox and what it did if you had a chipped xbox. I'm sure it wont be too long till they do something to stop the Xtreme update. What do you guys think? Has anyone heard anything?
dont think theres any news what they'll do yet.. but i really dont want to risk losing Live, its too valuable
