To catch some of the pokemons in the game you need to have ruby and fire red in the gba slot. Would this still work even if im using an emulated copy of Platinum? I'm using an M3 DS real if this helps getting my question answered. Thank you.

Yes, and it will also work if you have a flashcart in slot 1 and a flashcart in slot 2.

OK, what you are doing (capturing Ruby Pokemon in D/P/P) I have not tried yet.

According to the Wiki, Zangoose is found in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum on Route 208 and 210

It is found in Ruby on Route 114.

Why don't you capture it in Ruby and just transfer it?

I wasn't aware that you could transfer pokemon with one ds nor that you could transfer from ruby to 4th gen. How do I go about it? Thanks for the tip.

If I recall correctly (you can google it.

On the 4th gen you have to have beaten the Final Four (or whatever they are called).

That opens up a Pokemon Park south of your home. You can transfer GBA pokemon that are in your GBA Pokemon party from there, a maximum of 5 or 6 per day.

The strategy guide tells you exactly how to do it, and I'm sure it's listed on the web.

From there, I transfer the Pokemon from my DS to the Wii in PBR or Pokemon Ranch. (However, the only flashcarts that support this are G6Real, M3Real, and CycloDS.)
