I have an Hp Pavillion a376x, Pentium 4, Windows XP, 184 pin DDR SDRAM PC2700 MB/sec 512MB of memory.

I want to upgrade my memory to 1GB since that's the maximum allowed according to this website: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...002_USEN&dlc=en&printable=yes&encodeUrl=true&

I went to BestBuy.com and saw PNY 512MB memory that fits my computer's requirements, the only thing is that its faster.

The speed my computer supports is PC2700 MB/sec, but the PNY runs at 3200 MB/sec.

Can I even upgrade to the 3200 MB/sec, or will my computer only do 2700 MB/sec.

Is there any complications to upgrading to a hardware when you know your computer will not support the speed?

    Thanks.

hold on the the computer chassis for about 15 seconds to discharge static before touching the ram
I have had more than one pc totally blown cos the parents thought the kid knew what he was doing ...static wins every time
