my c: is ok but i save all my downloaded songs on my d: and its running out of room what should i do. i ran a diskkeeper to defragment it and it says that the d: is severely affected the overall health is critical. i only have 1% free space and i deleted about 5 gb worth of songs and it changed for a couple of days then it went back down and i havnt been downloading anything. what should i do? should i go buy a hard drive and transfer everything to it. will that help?

you pretty well answered your own question by suggesting another hd. can get either external hd or internal.

at compusa they are selling 300gb 7200rpm hard drives for 80.00
that might be good for all your songs. might look into that.

I was browsing threads, and since hard drives are the subject... this kinda fits. I am considering purchasing a new one, as mine is only 40 gig and mine is usually so full there is not enough free space to defrag. I had a friend tell me that a HD larger than 120 gig is a LOT more likely to go bad sooner. He says smaller is better. Any truth to that?

ahiah9, any hard drive can go at any time no matter how big it is. besides 40gig hd probably soon will be discontinued production.

depends on how bad the drive is determines whether you yourself can get the info off because if hd is dead than will cost $500Can or more for a company to get your info off for you.
