How long will the lamps die out? And can I pick up a replacement lamp at my local best buy store or circuit city, or do I have to go to their official website and buy it from them?
I don’t know much more but I think life depends on how much TV you watch per day and also it depend on lamp quality. I bought a Philips original projection lamp 2 years ago from a website called www.discount-merchant.com. Its really amazing work and believe me I have no problem yet. So I would recommend for Philips original lamps. Thanks!
Yes you can get a lamp replacement through best buy (using bestbuy.com) not sure about circuit. Rear Projection lamps (UHP or Xeon) usually last for 4,000 hours. Many factors can effect how long a bulb will last. - Heat (If the bulb doesn't cool down properly like during a power outage) - Lighting (Power Surge) - Settings of the TV (The higher the brightness the faster the bulb will go out). - Use (And of course how often it is used) Ced
Lamp Life depends on various features or you have to follow some precautionary measures too as there is an air filter in some projection lamps and you have to keep it clean in order to extend the lamps life. Like this, there are so many other factors too to extend the lamp life. I know a place to buy Replacement Lamps Hope it would be beneficial for you. edited by ddp
Rear Projection Televisions are not like other televisions that can run maintenance-free for 20 years or more. They need to have their lamps changed on occasion, and most have air filters that need to be cleaned every month or two. Lamps typically last about 8,000 hours on most models high end models, some of the cheaper models last only 1,000-2,000 hours. You can also give an online order for a new one.
Estimating average lamp life is not an exact science and testing methods.Keep in mind however that some lamps won't make it all the way to their estimated life spans. Some lamps will just fail sooner than others. Their Price rates also vary. LCD/DLP Replacement Lamps Update
You can get information about all this stuff through many vendors. I have had experience the products of a few. check them out www.discount-merchant.com www.newegg.com Good luck
The HUGE problem with that is you do not know the specs on the lamp. There are very critical issues, such as what is the focal length of the lamp, what are the voltage and current requirements, both at initial start-up and at run? These vary from lamp model to lamp model. Putting a lamp in with the wrong voltage/current requirements can kill your high/voltage power supply and there goes your cost savings. Here is a checklist of what to do to get the most out of your lamp: 1. Check out the presets and select the setting with the lowest light output. 2. Once you've done that adjust the brightness down to your liking. The lower the brightness the long the lamp will last. 3. Check and clean the air filters on a monthly basis. Having a clean air filters means that your lamp has better airflow. Air is what is used to cool the lamp and the cooler your lamp runs the longer it will last.
