what i am looking to do is take music videos from different dvds that i have and compile them on to one dvd. i downloaded dvd decryter but the more i read on here i get the feeling that it isnt going to be enough. i was hoping to be able to either use my pinnacle software or imovie to put the discs together. does this sound like i am going in the right directions? i am new to all this so pardon my ignorance. cheers! -mvt
If you want to build menus you'll need to use an authoring program like NeroVision, TMPGEnc, or a host of others. DVD Decrypter is used to rip video files from a DVD to a hard drive. DVD Shrink or Nero Recode can be used to compile the video files into a single volume but you'll still need some kind of authoring program to build menus. Nero or DVD Decrypter or the authoring program can burn the project. It just depends on what you want to do.
are imovie and pinnacle authoring programs? i figured i could just rip the chapters i want from the dvds and drop them in one of those programs. but i have come to find that the chapters are .vob files? so i was then trying to find a program that i could use to convert them... no luck. i have imported quicktime files into imovie with no probelems so thats what i was going to try and do. but i dont know if its possible to convert a .vob file to a quicktime file. man, i am so confused.
Most authoring programs allow one to choose whatever snippits of videos they want by selecting the starting and ending video frames to denote what is desired from a larger video.
