After I bought the DVD "Bolt", I was backing it up when I noticed that there are two copies of the movie on the DVD, each titled a different Angle

    Angle 1
    Angle 2

I Watched both angles and they both seem to be identical

Whats the difference and why would there be two versions listed like this?

    thanks

    Hi,

sounds like a newer form of copy protection to me.

I ggogled angles and it says it is more like the angles are supposed to show diferent backgrounds of the same scenes but looking at both angles, they appear not to be different

    Hi,

if you are using dvd shrink and doing the reauthor method, I see your point. If you just back up full disc and deselect all audio tracts except english AC-3, then the compression will be 88% and a good back up will result.

    Hope this helps

Yes, your right, I was able to back this up

My question was for knowledge sake and hoping someone could answer the question, not necessarily for being able to back up the dvd

Does anyone know why the angle's sre there for this movie?

    Ok,

let's think about it, In reauthor mode, we want to get the main movie. So if we believe there are 2 angles that we need (actually just 1) then we will add both to our movie selection list. Doing just 1 of the angles and deselecting non english audio leaves us with a compression of 88 %. Doing both angles will leave a resultant compression of about 44 %. This makes the final dvd very poor quality and most likely unwatchable. This can be considered a ploy to gently persuade one from backing up their own discs..... a new form of copy protection so to speak.

    Just my thoughts,

ok, your missing the point, I didnt start this thread to get advise as to making a copy of the movie

I am asking why there would be two versions of the same movie that look identical on the dvd, for knowledge sake

When I try to copy "Bolt" with DVD shrink, I get that cyclic message after just 20 sec of analyzing. The disc is clean. I bought Regcure because someone said that would help. Any ideas?

I used Clonedvd2 along with Shrink to make my backup of Bolt with no problems
