Has anyone had problems with x800 cards? I was playing driver (5 yr old game) with everything set to ultra and everything has blue blocks surrounding it. I even changed to lesser settings and no change. Even know I posted in another post I was going to use hacked driver I didnt has of yet. Does anyone have any ideas? Im using the latest catylat drivers.

    TY:>

check game sites for updates or patches. don't always blame the card as it could be the games problem. if game is 5yrs old than must be designed for win98, me or win2k.

My neighbor has the same exact games. Hes running win xp sp2 with a voodoo agp and a amd chip that is slower than I built. His shit is 5 yrs old compared to mine. Its run perfect. But yet on a machine thats faster it dont...tell me what im missing? I think the problem is radeon is a low power card, but yet you buy a geforce it has a power connector...sometimes two.,..to run the card of the psu. But yet radeon dont. So the radeon runs off the pci bus power. I think thats the prob. Plus I have all available patches and latest drivers for the games and card.

The only possibiltie I can find is that I have the pci express in the bios set to too high of a payload, but I tried changing it to no avail. Plus Im running aquamark and getting extremely low scores.

your computer is probably to fast for the games. i ran into somewhat the same problem when i had a 486-dx2 66mhz. tried this helicopter game & kept crashing into things as the computer was to fast for the game. do you have dx9c installed or just 9.0?

Hi, I'm not too sure what is causing your blue blocks unless it's a heat issue, but 1 comment I would like to add is about your 3dmark score.

If it is 3dmark 2001 then it is too low for your card! I got 6000 with a geforce2 GTS which is a much lesser card than the ATI.

Do you have Vsync turned on in your gfx settings?? I notice all of your fps results are around 60fps, is your monitor running refresh rate of 60hz? If so, turn off vsync and try the test again, it should be much higher.

I wouldn't worry about the ATI not having enough power, the X800 series are a good card and shouldn't give you problems.

Do you have any artifacts on newer games or just the old ones?

EDIT: My mate is assuring me my 6000 score was on 3dmark 2000 not 2001 and he's usually right about benchamrks, but yours should be higher than that on 2001 too.

Ty for the advice. I would try the vsync, but I cant. Catalyst control center is telling me I dont have permission to access it. I tried cleaning out and reinstalling the center to no avail. Guess Im just gonna return the card. Too much hassle.

I finally solved the problem. It was radeon. They suck. I got a bfg geforce 6800 gt and now no more blue blocks. gt's driver looks beautiful now. Geforce rocks. Too bad it cost 400.00 for the card, but at least I can play a 5 yr old game flawlessy.

Plus the funny thing is I called ati and they had the nerve to tell me it was the way the game was coded and it wasnt their fault. Yeah...bs alert. geforce rocks. :>
