Got a good one. I know im using crap media to start with, but even with this crap media I never had green blobs or flashes of green with a burned movie. Now I got a lite-on sohw-1693s off of newegg. And I have these green flashes, but yet when I had a hp light scribe burner all I would get is jitters and skipping...no green blobs. But the really weird thing is the flashes or blobs only appear in the dvd player hooked to the tv...not when I play them in the comp. I use the lite on for playback and dont see a one. Any idea?

Usually green blobs are an indication that the CSS (content scrambling system) encryption was not decoded. If you're talking about copies of commercial DVD's (i.e. factory pressed) then it's possible you didn't decrypt the disc before burning it.

No it wasnt that. These were sony discs...so there would have been the boy jumping. Some of these were mpegs i downloadd and converted with vso divxtodvd. So it aint a matter of encryption. Im basically feel its the burner or the discs...not sure. Maybe even the comp itself. I went from a factory hp to this custom built maching that i did. So maybe its in between somewhere. Guess I will find out when I buy new discs of better qualityu.

well, by your pc specs listed, its certainly not related there.
you say you used crappy media to start off with, were they the sony's you mentioned in a later reply? also, when you download a file (ie; movie) its in .avi format more likely then mpeg, and therefor needs to be converted over to mpeg2 to be playable in a dvd player, unless your dvd player will support .avi format (mine does.... LG LDA-511), other wise know as 'data' or 'mpeg4'
what speeds do you burn at? hope its 4x or less.
    are you multi-tasking while burning?
is your firmware up to date?

    just a few thoughts

I havnt been able to try good media yet, but they all were made by cmc. Now music or something burned on cdr are fine. Of course the maxell cdr are made by ritek. So I guess its leading to toss up of the burner or disks. Just dont understand why I didnt get these blobs with the hp light scribe with cmc, but yet i get them with lieton.

Yes the firmware is up to date. Got the latest one right off liteon site. No..no multitasking. Always 4 times on dvds and 20x on cdr.

I dont know what format these mpegs are. I just throw them into vso and it spits out a disc a hr later. Nice high frame rates with this comp...so dont take long. All I know is vso converts them into vob and ifo structure.

So I guess its leading to crappy media or burner. See thats why Im asking. If its the burner I want to rma while its under warranty. Cause I dont have the money to get some quality discs.

Are fuji made in japan good dvds? I can get them locally...

oh by sony...i ment i ripped sony arcoss protection...the boy jumping. Since one guy responded the encryption may not have been broke all the way....

assuming you live in the states, best buy always has good deals on media, and for not much more then the crappy media. most fuji is made in japan, however, i personally have seen some also made in taiwan, but they code out as ritek 03 and the MIJ fujis code out as yuden 02.
best buy every other weekend has either the verbatim or fuji on sale, usually like this..... verbs, 25 pack for 9.99 or fuji 50 pack for 17.99
the verbs 50 pack will gor for 19.99 on sale....
check the forums in the media section in case you dont get the local paper which states the sales for the week in the ads, or check the net.
catfreak and saugmon usually post the weeks sales on sunday for all to see, just so you know.

and besides, the media is cheaper then your burner, hands down.
