Hey guys i have a question on using 3 ide hard drives. You see I was planning on using a WD 120 gb hard drive for my main and using the onboard ide on my mobo of course. And i was planning on using a Ultra/Ata 133/100 Channel Controller so I can use extra ide devices. I was planning in using two Seagate Baraccuda 160gb hard drives. Now my question is when i set my primary hard drive as master and the other two hard drives thats connected to the controller be master/slave??

    thanks

yes, PCI controller cards follow the same master/slave setup as onboard IDE channels. And unless you have more than one optical drive (DVDROM/RW) on your computer, you can run all three HDs off your mobo, as each IDE channel supports two drives.

they are probably fine the way they are. I run my drives on opposite channels. I have one optical drive and one hard drive per channel. The only reason I have that is because I copy CDs on the fly, and it is much more efficient to have the optical drives on different channels, as it copies much quicker. But other than that it shouldn't make that much of a difference.
