question on burning dvd w/cdr dvd rom

    i was wondering about burning a dvd w/ a regular cdrw dvd rom
    i have a tsst corp model and i was wondering if you can burn dvds w/it orjust music

    is it a dvd burner or a combo unit that plays dvd's & burns cd's?

    I have the same question and yeah, it is a combo drive that can burn cd's and read dvds...

    I've heard there is a software that you can use to burn dvd-r's with a combo drive...

    Is that true? What's it called?

    haven't heard of it as the drive firmware would have to be updated to burn dvd's besides cd's

    if want to burn dvd's than get a dvd burner but keep the combo unit to burn cd's & rip dvd's for the dvd burner.

    I think I have the same problem, I have a CD-Writer/DVD-ROM combo drive in my computer. When I put in a blank DVD-R it won't read it to burn anything(says please put in a readable cd) isn't a DVD-ROM the same thing as a DVD-R? I can use CD-R's but not DVD-R's. I'm just alittle confused on this kind of stuff.

    lilbitcmt, if a combo drive than can read/play dvd's but only burns cd's besides playing them. a dvd burner will burn both dvd's & cd's besides playing them.
