Greetings, I am going to purchase a new premod PS2 slim from www.Xmodd.com I have a 2 part question: first I don't know anything about mod chips and want some advice on the best system to get. I do not do online gaming. I just want to play backups without the swap magic hassle and get games backed up and playing easily.

Which premodded PS2 system? DMS4 Lite, DMS4 PRO, Matrix Infinity?
I hope to get a reliable system. I can't afford $$$ to make a bad decision.

Question 2: I will be using good media but is DVD-r or DVD+R better for backups with a PS2 premod slim?

Currently I have a old V4 PS2/Fliptop/MS 3.6 and using DVD-R and backups seem to work OK but I only have 5 games. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get games to load and it is getting annoying.

    Thanks...

I don't know about the best deal for a mdochip, I use swap magic.
It doesn't matter if you use dvd+r or dvd-r. They both will work the same, just make sure you have a decent brand name. My computer can only burn dvd+r. I found that out after I put in a dvd-r and it wouldn't work, and I wasted my money on a 50pk I bought on ebay, that said no refunds. Just make sure you no what your computer can and cannot burn and youll be fine.

Get the Premoddified DMS4 Lite or PRO...I ordered mine from www.modchipstore.com but had to pay the price of $418.90 total! I payed $40.00 shipping so I could get it immediatley the next day! If your buying one from the place your getting yours you will have to wait 3 weeks...Mine came with the DIODE FIX! I just got it this morning it is nice- I got it Premodified with a Red/Silver color case...If you have alot of money go my way..If not go your way and wait 3 weeks!

go with the slim tool swap magic man its only like 30 bucks and they upgraded the soft mod. you can install it in like 2 minutes and the swapping isnt too much of a hassle but hey if you want to spend a couple hundred and void your waranty on ur ps2 by all means get a modchip then.

You listed your best choices. DMS4 Pro, DMS4 Lite, or Matrix Infinty.
I bought mine at XModd and it has been working fine for 6 months now.
Either +R or -R will work, but i think -R works better for games and +R for movies.
If you order from them you will also get extra protection, it comes with the Summone laser fix for free.
I have the DMS4 Pro as you can see by my sig and love it.

They may take longer than some other sites but i can tell you that what you get for the price is well worth the wait. Like you said no reason wasting your hard earned $$$ on some system from a store that may not be very good at what they do, then you will have a burned out laser which will mean you also would have a screwed up motherboard to replace.

Feel confident that Xmodd will give you a good system. The reason it takes 3 weeks is that each system is made to order, then tested, then shipped.

You have 24 hours to take that crap out of your sig or be banned. You need to change your sig then go back and edit every single one of your posts containing that link. I'm going to check each and every one of your posts and if I see even one that you missed you're history.

While you're at it you need to read the forum rules.

I have a V4 with fliptop and MS 3.6 discs. What your talking about (slim tool swap magic) is basically the same thing right? Wouldn't a premod play backups with ease compared to this? Not just the hassle part but better results playing backups without repairing files and wondering if the game really works? (I backed up PS2 game Mercenaries and it wouldn't play untill the 3'rd try and I almost threw it out assuming it didn't work but it does work well).

The DMS4 light is on sale for $235. + shipping. DMS4 light is the one I was going to order I just wasn't sure if the DMS4 Pro or matrix infinity was worth the extra $$$ for better play results of backups/reliability system life.

So far it sounds like it should be fine since nobody "bashed" the DMS4 light I hope to place a order tomorrow and I don't mind waiting 3 weeks if all the good things said about xmodd is true.

    Thanks

1 MORE QUESTION! This is what it says near the checkout on xmodd...

    - All Premod PSTwo Comes with Summ0ne's Laser Fix or
can be upgraded to Comsoft Slimline V4 Laser Fix at additional cost -
    http://www.xmodd.com/d4litepremod.htm

It says summone laser fix free....but also has a option: COMSOFT SLIMLINE V4 LASER FIX ADD $8.00

should I add the COMSOFT SLIMLINE V4 LASER FIX? I don't know if I need it since I have no clue what that means.

i bought mine from them (XModd)
I just have the Summone fix. Have had it for 6 months and have not had a problem.
Either the DMS4 Pro or Lite will work just fine. The DMS4 Pro is only like $10 more so i just went with the best even though i have no intentions of using the homebrew features that the 2mb flash is for.
It will also come with the ToxicBIOS (Lite) or ToxicOS (pro) already installed, which you will need.
And both have flash upgrades available to them which is great, whenever they want to add new features to the chip they release a flash which you download for free and burn to a CD and play in the PSTwo. It flashes the chip and upgrades it for you.
You can get the upgrades here when new ones come out.

Thanks for the feedback on the question steimy. I just ordered the system on their website. I will post my quick review of the system after I get my hands on it. I will be using Taiyo Yuden DVD-R media but I want to give Ridata G04 or G05 a try also. No more fumbling around with the swap magic crap for me :)

    Not only no swapping
No rebuilding games, no patching games (except for online play)
No extra swapping to use cheat discs (at least not with AR Max)
To be able to play DVD9 backups (with the latest Toxic flash v1.3)
    how sweet!
