I did several searches and nothing came up on this, so I fgured I would ask. I am using verbatim 16x dvd+R and have a 16x drive. I believe I read somewhere that you can burn up to 1/2 the max speed and be safe. Is this true and can I burn at 8x with no worries or should I stick to 4x??
@pennst32 You should be okay at 8x on those verbs w/ a good drive. Make sure your drives firmware is up to date 1st though. But as thelox714 said sometimes it's trial and error - try it out - your player will tell you if it doesn't like it! (playback problems)
curious...what burner u currently using? 8x should be fine, depending on ur burner, if using Benq, Pioneer, or Liteon...8x is good speed, 4x burns on 16x rated Good Quality media is unecessary... p.s. congrats binkie on the addict status...join the club docTY~
I'm using an NEC ND-3550a. Think that will handle the 8x speed...I know it says 16x max?? Thanks for the help, new to DVD burning, have only used a stand alone recorder hooked up to my TV before this week.
i 2 am curious about this because i am thinking about buying that same nec drive . experts where u at ??
@pennst32 You should be fine - the latest firmware is 1.05. Here's a link: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2157 To check your current version of firmware you can do it with several programs - nero, decrypter, dvdidentifer. Do you have any of these? If not download identifer: http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ When you 1st open it - pick the nec under drive selection - your firmware will be listed after the model # something like this [FW VSOG] @frankvega Can't help ya on how the drive is - never used it.
