I'm with dolphin2 stick with Verbatim or use Taiyo Yuden.

These are the two best brands of blank media IMO.

If you need question answered on the quality of media go here

    http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

Princo is a third class media, whereas Verbatim is first class. You don't want to go from something that is good to something that is questionable and may not work. If you can find Made in Japan, MIJ, Sony disks they will code as Taiyo Yuden. Otherwise, you are better to order from online to get them.

    http://www.rima.com
    http://www.newegg.com

    All dealers are reputable.

Don't get yourself tempted by those cheap medias,on which you're going to save some few cents, because the problems you may get from these will cost you more than that.If you want very good and safe back ups, better spend some little more and you know you don't have to worry about anything.Stick with the Verbs or you can even use Taiyo medias.Normaly people move from bad to good medias and not the contrary. If you're not getting any problem from verbatim, then why change?

Well i guess the reason i'm wandering if im using the best media cause when i backup movies using verbatims i have no problems at all but when friends want to borrow and watch at there own homes they tell me it either skips or freezes which doesnt make sense when it doesnt happen to me... why is that???

Do you used to booktype your verbatims? If not that's what can explain the skipping and freezing on your friends players. If you booktype your DVD+R medias, this will help in greater playing compatibility and no freezing and skipping.Sometimes even you don't booktype,it can play well on some players but won't on some.

And at what speed do you burn? Now maybe that your friends players are pricky with DVD+Rs medias even if booktyped. There are some exceptional situations where some dvd players would play only DVD-Rs and not DVD+Rs whether booktyped or not.Or it can be their lens which need to be clean. And what about when playing other things on their players, still the same skipping and freezing?

Hey TY4ever i burn at the lowest speed... and my friends only have problems playing movies that i have burned but the bootlegs they buy off the street they have no problems which is weird... the way i do it is i use dvd decryptor save it on my hard drive after that i use freedvd the get rid of those extra protections then i use dvd shrink burn at the lowest speed... thats the procedure i use... i dont know all that matters i can play it on my dvd player... why does the bootlegs off the street work and mine dont when it comes to playing on other players... am i doing something different?

Try use a DVD-R and try it on your friends players. If it plays well then it's just their players which don't like DVD+Rs.Maybe the bootlegs DVDs are not in DVD+R format or DVD+R booktyped to DVD-ROM and are in DVD-R format, reason why maybe their players would play them.

I see you go through a lot of processes before burning your DVD,what about if you just use DVD Decrypter and then use DVD Shrink?Won't that be enough to remove all the protections on the orinal movie?
