Okay . . . I'm very new at this, so I'll start with what I have and then maybe someone can help . . . I have a Dell Inspiron 8600. I have two burners (one internal which I never use and one external HP dvd 640). For software I have DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink 3.2. I'm pretty sure I have the wrong software because I can't burn copies of new movies. Every time I try to burn, an error come up during the decrypting (usually) and sometimes the shrink won't work if I do get the movie past decrypter stage. Is there any suggestions?

    Welcome howcarpa to AD!)

Well, lets start by getting you a few more programs. The first programs I am going to mention are free.

    DVDFab Decrypter @ dvdidle.com/free.htm
You use this decrypter because DVD Decrypter is not updated anymore. 99% of the time after the movie is decypted you can use Shrink. However, if you are the type that wants quality backups then you want to shrink with the highest % you can. That you can use VobBlanker for. You can find that here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/voblanker.cfm

VobBlanker you may need a little practice with. If you look at a forum written by Alcohol you will find it here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/334154

This should get you off to a good start. Good luck and happy burning.

Ok.....here ya go..... something very easy...... and freeeeeee:

    RipIt4Me: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/360110,

and you just have to get the free 21 day trial of AnyDVD & CloneDVD:

    http://www.slysoft.com/en/

these are the easiest ways to do the newer releases. When you become more ambious then there are plenty of other programs that you can dive into.

but this is a must read for all newbies: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/183136

Okay . . . I'm still a really big idiot. I have downloaded DVDIdle and VobBlanker. I've looked at the guide to work VobBlanker, but I don't know how to get the DVDIdle to work. I've gone throught the setup of DVDIdle, but all that comes up is on the left side are tab buttons with general, cache, programs, and add-ons. On the right side is Language, default dvd drive, and startup settings. How do I get the thing to work or is there a guide to this thing that I can read (I've looked throught the guide page, but don't see anything). So sorry for not knowing anything.
