I hear that you can only use avi's on a a computer or a dvd player that supports that format. Ok what kind of movie mpeg or what do i need to download so it will play on any dvd player?

DVD player supports DVD format (with an Audio_TS folder and a Video_TS folder). So in case you have video files in e.g. mpeg, avi formats, you'll have to convert them into DVD compliant format. Then they can be played safely on standalone dvd players. On the other hand, there are now new models of DVD players that can also play avi, mpeg files etc..
