Hi, sorry if this has been discussed, I tried the search function but wasnt too successful

I have heard different things and needed some clarification

With the d2ckey, I heard that you never have to do updates, is this true? So do I not have to worry about updating before playing a new game?

Also, I heard people say both things about playing online. Am I able to play games online with the d2ckey without any risk?

Its a risk not to update online before testing out any backup especially if it is not from your Wii system region (PAL, NTSC, JAP).
I have a PAL wii with a d2ckey chip- and always update before playing a backup so that it does not get bricked permanently.

With regards to playing online- i personally would not risk it-as i dont want to get monitored by nintendo and get slapped with a lawsuit or get my wii bricked when online again.

    Good luck

I personally do play online as there is no evidence that Nintendo can or will be able to monitor those who aren't using bona fide Wii disks. The fact that all chips claim stealth, including the D2Ckey, and, as yet, nobody has had any problem with it, is actually a good enough reason to dismiss paranoia about that issue and I will play until I hear otherwise.

As far as updates are concerned - the D2Ckey is not supposed to need updates but the Wii itself is always going to need updates, and this is best online as the risks from bricking come from updating with game disks out of region. If you are confident the disk is in your region then that should be fine as well and some updates come with games anyway so if you wanna play it you have to take it - as long as it is definitely in region.
