Questions about Starview The Box Super

Some questions from a complete n00b.

I got a Starview The Box Super two days ago. It has been mostly problem free, when I first plugged it in it was all good. Everything seemed to work. Except Setanta Sports 1 and Setanta Golf keep breaking up. Its not really breaking up its like if I was keep changing the screen from latter screen to full screen, every other channel seems to be OK. Can I fix this?

I am on NTL Ireland, and it says on "All Channels" it has about 139 channels. Is that about right? It looks right to me, just asking.

Sometimes when I switch the music channels I get no signal for some of the channels. It comes back after a minute though. Does that happen regulary?

Ok I would re flash it using the 7.09e that should sort your problems out! all the info and guidance are in the 2 links below my sig.....

Also, when I scan for channels at the bottom it has like;

TP 16: 394000/6887 - Failed.

Does that mean I didnt pick up some channels?

 

Flash it with the 7.09, as Des said & then come back & you`ll be sorted

 

OK, I flashed it with that. It seems to be OK.

But, I'm missing channels.

I'm missing;

RTE 1
RTE 2
TV3
Bravo (I have Bravo +1)
Paramount (Have +1 and 2)
Chelsea TV
UKTV Gold
Bravo (Have +1)
Kiss TV
Karrang TV
Smash Hits

and probably more. I scanned a few times to find them and can't.

 

Do a Factory reset & you should get them back.
Menu > factory setting
pin 0000
ok to delete

TURN THE B0X OFF AT THE BACK FOR A MIN THEN TURN BACK ON

English > installation
choose provider
auto scan > press ok
channels found
press menu > 1570
Turn emu on
exit exit exit.

 

Done that, and didn't get them back. When I look on all channels it says.

All Channels (119)

Doesn't sound right.

 

What didnt work??/ 119 channels sounds about rigt!!
Did you get the Rte ones or TV3?

 

manual scan on339.500 & they should come in.

 

Thanks manual on that frequency got most of them back, still don't have Chelsea TV but don't mind. There is one or two I dont have but its OK.

if you do a manual scan for the history channel... you might just find Chelsea Tv there LOL

 

Give us the name of the channels & i`ll give you the freqs.
Chelsea is 394.250

 

From the channel list on Wikipedia; here are the channels that I don't have.

Extreme sports is on 323000
The rest are on 394250 except Trouble & cartoon network 2 which you wont get on n*l Ireland at the moment.

 

Thanks man, got them. Except the music channels it just says failed maybe its something in my area.

Another question, sorry if I'm asking to many.

When I press on the "Sig" button it says Leval and Quality.

Quality is full, ussually on 99, but Leval is only usually on 59 and maybe 55 on some channels. Is that a bad signal?

 

Mine goes up & down all the time & i`ve never had a problem.
You can try a booster if you want but i wouldnt say you need one.

If you`re using a splitter, then this will affect your signal level.

 

No I'm not using a splitter, I haven'nt had many problems with the signal it breaks up the odd time but not a lot.

Would a booster help the signal, if so where can I get one and how much?
