last night when i was checking my IDE channes/Drives for DMA, after posting about DVDFab being slow. I noticed that there's no "forcefull" way to go DMA on my system.. it only has "PIO" and "DMA if available" is this normal? i couldn't find a way in the BIOS to force it either
If you can not get the DVD drive to go to DMA mode by selcting it then try to uninstall the IDE channel that is stuck in PIO mode and uninstall the DVD drive under the drives in device manager. Then reboot your computer and windows should then install them in DMA mode.
that link answered all my questions.. i wasn'thaving DMA issues..just double checking and noticed that teh only option was DMA if available on mine and wondered if it was normal..and it is
hi pleased it helped. no i did'nt think for a moment you did, but it's very easy to get to "TEC" about something when it is easier to go the simple route
If your using WIN XP or XP PRO, then try this simple guide here http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues
