last night when i was checking my IDE channes/Drives for DMA, after posting about DVDFab being slow. I noticed that there's no "forcefull" way to go DMA on my system.. it only has "PIO" and "DMA if available"

is this normal? i couldn't find a way in the BIOS to force it either

If you can not get the DVD drive to go to DMA mode by selcting it then try to uninstall the IDE channel that is stuck in PIO mode and uninstall the DVD drive under the drives in device manager. Then reboot your computer and windows should then install them in DMA mode.
