    Hi,
I just brought a Eee PC (little laptop thing) and as it doesn't have a DVD drive the sales lady told me I could put a movie onto my USB stick plug it into the Eee PC and watch the movie, Ive tried 2 different ways firstly I used shrink to shrink a dvd then copied the files shrink made onto my USB stick and tried that in the Eee but the files wouldn't play then I tried burning that shrunk movie onto a disc then taking the files straight from the disc and putting them on the USB but again when I plugged it into the Eee PC the files wouldn't play??

If anyone knows of a way to play movies from my USB stick on this Eee PC then I would love your input!

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to help me out.

Regardless of the dvd drive, if you have movie files on that usb stick, then all you should need is a player to play it with. You haven't mentioned if you have Windows media player or Vlc or any other. VLC player is a freebie and a damn good one too. It's available to download here at Afterdawn from the Downloads tab....or use the link below..

You will most likely at some point, download a movie file that some players cannot read without codecs. There is a comprehensive set of codecs here at aD and are also free. CCCP codec pack is a good one to get.

With VLC choose Media from the menu bar (far left) and select open file and then navigate to the pen drive and then the file and all should go well.

    Cheers.

Thanks for your reply, Im going to download the programs you have suggested and see how I go. I did end up getting one movie to play off the USB stick but that movie was a AVI file so maybe that's why it worked?
Anyway thanks again and I will update this thread and let you know if it works.
