    Hello
I bought some speaker wires and when I come to prepare them they have copper wires but they also have a Red and a White plastic core which have wires in them also. When I come to prepare do I need to strip the Red and White plastic core to expose those wires also and bundle them together or do I leave the cores intact?
    Many thanks for any help.

from what you are describing, you do not have speaker wire. you have wire that is used for line level (RCA) audio connections, NOT speaker level use. the outer copper wire is ground, then on one side you have a inner white insulated wire, and the other side you have a red insulated wire, right? the inside insulated wires are the positive connections.

you have the wrong type of wire. its not designed for speaker use, and i don't recommend using it. its not meant for carrying the voltage load that speaker level uses.
