Hey, I am new here and i have purchased a Pioneer dvr 109 w/ a091.57 firmware flashed. I was wondering why my DVD+R media when burnt w/ pre-authored movie... never starts up in the menu section. when i insert the burnt dvd+r it always goes straight to the main movie file. i am sure that i have those video_ts.ifo and .vobs. i have to go to the menu by pressing dvd-menu on the remote control. Thanks, just a question. i was wondering that it might be the dvd+r format rather than the dvd-r? could be... Thanks again.

it depends on the structure of the DVD, Some DVDs start right into the movie some dont.

Firstly congratulations on your purchase, I have the same burner and to date have not experienced that problem I use only +R and they work fine, I firstly run my movie through vsoDivxToDVD and then burn.

hello relo8d I'm assuming your using shrink you said re-authored and this is the most common app that uses this term and dvddecrypter? because the pacifier could'nt be ripped w/ shrink either program I mentioned has options that will leave you w/ just the movie

can you select and view the menu?? you could have changed you rdefaults in decrypter or when re-authoring you could have cut something that allowed the menu to play I would suggest resetiing defaults in decrypter and paying attention to preview everything before you cut it in shrink
w/ younger kids movies the movie only method can be helpful if they want to do it they're selfs.

Do you have AnyDVD by any chance running in the background?? AnyDVD has an option that automatically edits the IFOs so that it can skip directly to the menu or the main movie (your choice).

If you have AnyDVD right click on the Fox in the task bar and select settings. In the DVD Tab either uncheck "remove annoying adverts and trailer or select "jump directly to title Menu".

Otherwise if you use DVD Shrink to reauthor a movie, it will remove the title menu. You will need to run your movie through some program (like Nero Vision Express) and create your own.

If you want to copy a copy that jumps straight to the movie and you know it has a menu, you will have to modify the IFOs manually with something like IFOEdit.

Thank you guys for the great explanations and different solutions to the problem, i just had a chance to try an old indian movie, an original copy. it is about 4.36 GB, i just transferred all the files in AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS into a folder, then burnt it on a dvd+r.. it still starts from movie.. i havn't used any of those rippers for this. i was just wondering if it could be my dvd players? the eerie thing about it is that it also skipps the main menu when i play it on my computer. Thanks for helping guys, i hope i find a solution to this.

If it does it on your computer then it isnt your standalone player it must just be structured to start the movie first.
