    Hi Everyone

I have come along with this RealOne MetaData package file with the extension of ".r1m".

I was wondering and desperately wanna know if there is any way that I could convert this file into a proper ".rm" file and then I know how to get it converted into ".mp3".

My only concern is to get this .r1m file converted into .rm so that I could listen to it.

This file is actually created when you listening to an audio file over the net. The funny thing is that I use Streambox VCR to grab the actual audio file off the .RAM over the net from the RSTP servers but this one was not linked to an .rm file but was linked to .mp3 with approximately 4MB in size which even streambox VCR was not able to grab it.

RealOne 10 will stream it much ahead while you are listening so that i will not cut or be interupted. Usually the filename is a template file. every time you listen top a new song the file name it records as a the streaming template is the same but what I did was that everytime it records the template i copy it to another folder and rename it as the song name. Each time the file size is different because the songs are different in lenght etc...

The only problem is that realOne will not play these streaming files and I need to convert them.

    Any clues ????????????

Please help if any one knows anything about this kind of file..

    thanks

What is the RTSP stream URL or the URL of the RAM redirector or the site URL?

The .r1m files that are created do in some way hold the data that is streamed, but they are not a playable file. They may just contain some of the stream data and still need a connection to the actual stream to play or may be encrypted in some way. Just a guess. I don't know and since there are streaming media recorders we don't really work with them. I have looked at them a few times but have never found a way to make a playable file out of them.

MP3 is normally streamed over HTTP protocol. There are some sites that do stream them using RTSP or MMS protocols. These are fairly rare and I don't normally try them unless someone brings a site or stream to my attention. In some cases streaming media recorders can make a file but it is often changed to a .rm or .asf file that uses a MP3 codec. In some cases you can change the URL or streaming protocol to HTTP and get a download of these MP3 files. You may have to add a RTSP or HTTP port number to the URL.

The authors of OEP-OEE Offline Explorer Pro or Enterprise, HiDownload, Stream Down, Net Transport have all worked this RTSP/MMS streaming of MP3's.
I am not sure which if any of these recorders can currently record such a stream and if you will get a MP3 or RM or ASF file. You may have to try these recorders and see if any of them will work. It may depend on the particular stream and server.

Of course direct audio recording will also work.

Read the FAQ's and other information at the forum below. Streaming media recording is what we do. If you still have a problem you may also post a message there about this and you may get more help.

I am having the same problem myself. The .r1m file appears to require some header to run, I have looked at the script which connect you to the livestream via the net (ie .ram & .smi files), but I have been unable to point the connection to the local file.

Any other suggestions are welcome, outside plating the file to a minidisk and movuing back to your PC.

I am also having trouble converting files using dbpoweramp as the Realplayer files require links to other files (ie via livestream). Installing the codec only seems to works for "dMC Audio Input" program and NOT the "dMC Music Converter".

    Any further comments are welcome.
