Hi - really hope someone can help! I've got a R4 card today and 4gb SD card. I've downloaded the latest kernel and copied over to the SD card as per the instructions on here. I've then created a 'games' folder to stick my roms in. All seems great until I then stick the R4 (with SD) into the DS. When I turn it on, on the top screen it says loading then quickly turns to what I can only describe as a red SD card graphic with a face inside - underneath it says MENU??? I've tried everything - reloading, formatting the SD card etc etc.. Any ideas???????? thanks in advance everyone
Where did you get the Kernal from, there are now 11 R4 cards all using there own software, the website in my signature hosts them all I would suggest that you probably have the wrong one. Exactly which card did you buy? I say exactly as some are only a hyphen apart R4New & R4 - New
Cheers!! I'm sorted now... didnt realise there was so much difference!!! I've sorted the download that is specific to the card - am all up & running now!! Appreciate your reply!!
I don't think there are any standard 4GB micro SD cards, only SDHC. This means you also need an R4HC, not just a regular R4. Hope that helps.
Hi Kittymat, i have had my R4 for about 3 months & can't get the 4gb sd card to work but i don't have the box or instruction leaflet for it any more & don't know which version i have, all in says on the cart is R4 revolution for DS. How could i find out which version it is?
If you have an original R4 Revolution, then you'll need a smaller micro SD card (2GB or smaller). The original R4 doesn't support micro SDHC cards (4GB or larger).
Agreed. It sounds like you received a non-SDHC version of the R4. It can happen, seeing as most suppliers are juggling several versions and revisions of the R4. I think if you email them back they can sort it out for you. I'd test beforehand though. Borrow a 2GB microSD card, load the firmware and see if it works with that first. If it doesn't, then your R4 is DOA. If it does, you need to swap it. I would also do a quick test with the 4GB microSD card to make sure it's not DOA also (format and try copying files to it). Good luck! J.G.
