Hi, i'm hoping someone can help me. I bought my son an R4DS for his birthday back in May. The R4 didnt come with any software so a friend put some on together with a few games. These games work okay. Since then i have downloaded a fair few games from various different sites, some work but the majority dont and i get the message "cannot read data. Turn off power and reinsert the game card". I've been looking round this site today and reading a few threads and thought the reason was probably due to version of the software i was using (it says v1.05) when i turn on the DS, so i downloaded the latest version v1.21. However after i installed it and turned the DS on it just hung on a black screen saying loading. So far i've tried v1.18, 1.19 and 1.20 as well but have the same problem with all of them and the R4DS site doesnt have any earlier ones on the site. So my questions are, does anyone know how i can get a newer version of the software that works and will this cure the playing of games issue. For extra info i have two micro sd cards, kingston and sandisk and when i put the old software back on the R4 does load! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Right then, i've managed to get hold of a copy of the v1.17 software and it works. It looks like the games that wouldnt work before also now work!! Still if anyone knows who i can get v1.18 to v1.21 to work it would be appreciated!
genuine r4ds firmware goes upto v1.18 anything above that is for fakes and clones and probably wont work on your r4ds .( if your r4ds is genuine fingers crossed ) for genuine r4ds firmware look here they have all the versions - http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ woof811.
