After switching on the DS, after making it through the Loading... screen, it comes up with a green screen (DS skin I guess) with a chinese message on it, which according to a friend who speaks Chinese, says Software doesn't work. There's no menu or anything. This occurred after I tried to update the firmware from v 1.14 to v1.26 on the R4 DS with a Kingston 1 GB Micro SD after some of the newer games I added didn't work. Now I basically cleared everything on the R4 and copied the firmware versions 1.26, 1.18 and 1.14 to straight onto the SD, each time with no avail, same messages keep appearing. Can someone please help? :<
The general rules to eliminate most issues are, 1) Format your micro SD with Panasonics SD formatter (free use Google to find) and use it each time you change the firmware. 2) Download your firmware and extract it straight on to the SD (not onto the PC then transfer) 3) Try the available firmware's - http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ hosts them all, start with the likely candidates and work your way through 4) Ensure the SD card is seated correctly in the R4 before putting into the DS. 5) If the card is not seen by the DS try the paper shim trick - if the contacts to the DS are not good enough then the unit can not draw enough power to run. Put a piece of folded paper or thin card between the DS and the cartridge to push the contacts together 6) Unless it specifically says - the unit can take up to 2GB micro SD's, if it says SDHC then it can take up to 32GB 7) Ensure the clock is correctly set on the DS - this upsets some R4's 8) At the firmware stage do not put any roms on, get it past the loading issue first. Once past the loading issue put 1 known good rom on and see if you can get it to run (some firmwares will boot on other cards but will not run a rom) Good Luck
1) did that, no change 2) did that, no change 3) Did v. 1.14, 1.18 and 1.26 for R4 DS, don't know what others to try! 4) Yeah 5) Did that, definitely helped with not getting the 'insert game' screen, but still stuck on the software problem screen 6)Only has about 10 MB on it... 7) Time is set correctly 8) Tried it, didn't work
Which kind of R4 you use? Maybe you can try this website to download the firmware: http://www.r4i-sdhc.com/downloade.asp
