If you have a 1.3 version of the R4i and put it in a later version (1.4) then it won't work. Buy a new card, NOT an R4

AceKard2i, EZ Flash, M3iZero all updateable and much better.

Menu - you have the wrong firmware as there are 40 different types of R4 it is not easy to get the right one.

The general rules to eliminate most issues are,

    1) Format your micro SD with Panasonics SD formatter (free use Google to find) and use it each time you change the firmware.

    2) Download your firmware and extract it straight on to the SD (not onto the PC then transfer)

    3) Try the available firmware's - http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ hosts them all, start with the likely candidates and work your way through

    4) Ensure the SD card is seated correctly in the R4 before putting into the DS.

    5) If the card is not seen by the DS try the paper shim trick - if the contacts to the DS are not good enough then the unit can not draw enough power to run. Put a piece of folded paper or thin card between the DS and the cartridge to push the contacts together

    6) Unless it specifically says - the unit can take up to 2GB micro SD's, if it says SDHC then it can take up to 32GB

    7) Ensure the clock is correctly set on the DS - this upsets some R4's

    8) At the firmware stage do not put any roms on, get it past the loading issue first. Once past the loading issue put 1 known good rom on and see if you can get it to run (some firmwares will boot on other cards but will not run a rom)

dstti did the same when upgraded to 1.4e there was an upgrade you could run through the dstti on a ds lite, if you google the model of your r4i maybe the same kind of thing is out for that.

The R4i SDHC redbox works after DSi 1.4 if you have the latest firmware. I'm using one right now.

http://www.dscardworld.com/support.shtml Okay so it's not the official website but it's where I got my card from and it's too damn convenient, they got the links to latest software there.
