I got enough funds to upgrade my video card from FX5200 to either a Radeon X800GT(which can be unlocked to an X800XT) or a Radeon 6600GT. I was wondering what your guys's opinions are? Which one would you go with? Currently, I would probably go with the Radeon, cuz it can be unlocked to an X800XT. They have pretty much the same specs as well, but most review sites point to the X800GT as the better one. What do you guys think?
The X800GT is quicker than the 6600GT & at the same price . The one to go for is the HIS X800GT IceQ II Turbo 256MB PCI-E it's an excellent overclocker seen one @ 620Mhz core 1.06Ghz mem & if they unlock to a full 16 pipe's the it's gonna be one hell of of a fast card, on a side note the cores may differ in that it might be from a X800 or a X850 with just 8 pipes disabled & it may not o.c in the same way but still one very nice card ........ I'd go for it Ragnarok2
Unfortunately I don't have pci-express. I got an 4X/8X AGP slot. But yeah the X800GT definitely seems pretty nice, and it unlocks to an X800XT equivalent.
I've had a look around & i can't seem to find a AGP version of the X800GT, if it ain't available in AGP your best bet would be either a 6600GT & overclock it or a 6800le & unlock & overclock it. Do you have a link to a AGP X800GT
Go for it fella, nice card nice price ..... just remeber to uninstall the old drivers completly using driver cleaner pro http://www.drivercleaner.net/ before installing the card & drivers, as your going from Nvidia to ATI & it could cause a few headaches ... talking of drivers try one of these http://www.tweaksrus.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=157&Itemid=41/ when you get the card.
