    Hi,
I'm building a new computer and am wonder which will boast the greatest performance, 2x 250GB SATA HDDs in RAID 0 or Just 1x 500GB SATA HDD.

    Thanks!

there's a lot more to it than performance. The RAID0 stripe is faster at raw transfer rate, but if one drive goes you lose ALL your data, and the access latency is higher, meaning some stuff is faster, other stuff is not. A single 500GB drive makes a lot more sense in the long run.
