Hello all, I am having major problems with this raid setup. I have two 250 gig hard drives. Each on a seperate ide cable, and both are set to master/single drive. I am using a usb dvd burner for the windows install. I believe I have all the options set right in my bois. Raid is turned on the both masters, and raid is enabled. When I going into the raid bois/utility it sets up the raid and says healthy. However it will not let me hit "b" for "set boot". The option is there, but is not highlightable. This stuff is taking place in (nvidia raid utility). But back in the motherboard bios it shows in boot order that I'm boot from the 465.77 gb raid hard drive. But when I do an install it doesn't put the two hard drives together as one. And after it copies the files over it freezes. A few lets just show up outta nowhere, and they change colors. So I can't do anything at all...it kills me...
Well your problem is simple when installing an OS like Winxp at the bottom of the blue screen its says hit F6 for RAID\SCSI drivers. You must have a floppy with the drivers, once you hit F6 it will recognize your RAID and will install the OS in both as 1 HDD.
I have tried this, however I don't know what drivers to use. I tried using nivida driver pack 5, using the files in the IDE folder. That was a no go however. Also I forgot to say I'm using PATA not SATA. And I have a k8ns ultra 939 mb. It says NVIDIA all over the bios/raid settings, so I tried their drives with nothing. Should I try sislicon image? And here is the link to my board. http://www.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/Products/Products_GA-K8NS Ultra-939.
Link don't work. Well I don't think you can make PATA HDD Bootable with your MB.I read thru the specs and It does support bootable raid for SATA connections only cuz I only see SATA pre-windows drivers and not PATA.But After you install the OS RAID Deluxe feature will let you make PATA into raid. But thats only in Windows.
For some reason I was using my usb 2.0 dvd drive for the install. This was causing the "blue screen of death" after trying to load the drivers I put in. With the windows disk placed into a normal ide cd rom it loaded my drives fine. It then picked it up as one 465 gig hard drive. I installed and it has been working fine for 2 days now. I totally forgot I had started this topic, and there hadn't been in emails about it in my inbox...so I forgot about it. But thanks for the help, I finally got it without it being hard at all!
